ANDREW MURRAY
I embrace human-centred design, creating products and services that help individuals and businesses succeed. I’ve been a designer of digital experiences for over 18 years, communicating my ideas in words, sketches and polished designs. I enjoy guiding teams to turn complex problems into practical, elegant solutions. I want to create great products that make a difference. I embrace experimentation, new technologies and ways to expand my skills.
I began my career in an era when designers often built websites, equipping me with a technical foundation that transferred into the ability to deliver rapid interactive prototyping, automation and have discussions about the architecture of design tokens. I effectively bridge the gap between design and development teams, ensuring new UI patterns are feasible and easy to use.

I have a solution-oriented mindset and excel at creating user journeys and flows from user discoveries and wireframes from ideation sessions. My keen eye for detail and experiences with motion design helps me transform these into beautifully crafted interfaces with a focus on best practices, accessibility and human-centred design.

As a long-time Sketch advocate and teacher, my desire to streamline the team's workflow instigated the transition to Figma. Its seamless collaboration added clarity and transparency across the team and is an excellent tool for creating and maintaining design systems and component libraries. I have found it quick and easy to reskin individual reusable components and entire sites, making the white-labelling of products a breeze. Additionally, there has been an increase in the quantity and quality of Figma Plugins and Templates, resulting in increased efficiency and a reduction in frustrations for designers. Creating prototypes in Figma quickly produces almost everything required; however, Principle and After Effects are still better for more complex interactions and motion design.

I am excited about AI image generation. While impressed with DALL·E 2, I find myself drawn to Midjourney because of its concept art aesthetic and ability to consistently produce images you love with minimal effort. I think launching Midjourney via a Discord bot was a brilliant decision as it eliminated the need for a bespoke interface while using a popular platform. I expect to see many areas benefit from AI-generated images in the future.

I am passionate about creating products that make a difference and want to shape the future using technology to supercharge innovative products and services.
